Women’s Stories and Wisdom
As a journalist on community newspapers for fifteen years, Eileen particularly enjoyed sitting with women in their living rooms and gardens, and hearing about their personal, creative or sporting dreams.
Or she sat with women in their offices hearing the passion in their voices about helping women to enhance their health or find safety from domestic violence.
Always she was inspired by women’s determination and vision to create new life stories.
For the past twenty years, Eileen has been a meditation teacher and sound healer, providing a safe healing space for women to explore their fears, traumas and loss.
Eileen brings together her professional writing experience – this also includes many years specialising in women’s health and healthy ageing – and her expertise in teaching meditation in her book, Small Steps to Healing: How Ten Women Transformed Their Lives.

Here is a collection of deeply personal stories of women’s journeys through trauma and grief that are all too familiar – child sexual abuse, gun violence, empty mother-daughter relationships, emotionally abusive males and the heartache of mental illness in a family
We see how trauma and loss accompany us more often than we imagine and in ways we may have never considered before. We also discover what we have hidden inside ourselves – emotional walls that we created unknowingly to stuff down our fears and pain from incidents that we witnessed or experienced, from childhood or as adults.
The stories show how change and healing are possible by taking small steps and Eileen encourages us to do the same – she presents simple mind-body practices, in both written and audio versions. These are designed to create calmness, inner strength and an open heart so we connect more deeply with ourselves, our values and our wisdom.
Eileen hopes the women’s stories will prompt us to be courageous – to believe in ourselves and tell our stories so we heal our hearts and create our own new life stories.
