About Eileen
As a journalist for thirty years, Eileen particularly enjoyed sitting with women in their living rooms and gardens, and hearing about their personal, creative or sporting dreams.
Or she sat with women in their offices hearing the passion in their voices about helping women to enhance their health or find safety from domestic violence.
Always she was inspired by women’s determination and vision to create new life stories.
For the past twenty years, Eileen has been a meditation teacher and sound healer, providing a safe space for women to heal their bodies, minds and souls.
Eileen brings together her professional writing experience – this also includes many years specialising in women’s health and healthy ageing – and her expertise in teaching meditation in her book, Small Steps to Healing: How Ten Women Transformed Their Lives.
Being enveloped in the kind energies of wise women was a key part of all the women’s healing journeys.
Wise women come in many guises – health professionals, mind-body practitioners, energy healers and trusted friends.
With their guidance, women revealed their vulnerability by talking about the painful memories and feelings that they had hidden away.
When women free their voices to speak their truth, they start freeing themselves.

Small Steps to Healing is a collection of deeply personal stories of women’s journeys through trauma and grief, and how they emerged from the depths of despair and darkness to heal their hearts and souls.
The stories reveal how trauma and loss accompany us more often than we imagine and in ways we may have never considered before. We also discover what we have created inside ourselves unknowingly – emotional walls to stuff down our pain, fear and confusion from incidents that we witnessed or experienced, often in childhood.
But change and healing are possible by taking small steps and Eileen encourages us to do just that, by presenting simple mind-body practices, in both written and audio versions. These are designed to bring calmness, inner strength and to open our hearts to self-love and self-compassion so we connect more deeply with ourselves, our values and our wisdom.
Eileen hopes the stories will inspire women to be courageous – to believe in themselves and step out to weave new life stories.
